Your AI AssistantAsk about past calls and older days
What it is
Your assistant is not limited to today. Ask about a person's history, an older or future day, a finished task, or how a past conversation went, and it pulls the answer from the desk's own records — old phone-sheet lines, done tasks, past calendar days, contacts — and answers from what it finds. Asked how a conversation went, it tells that call's story in its own words. When there's nothing on record, it says so plainly — it never fills the gap with a guess. Things people ask: - "How did the Harbor Films call go?" - "What did we have going with Dana in June?" - "Did I ever finish that insurance thing?" - "What's on my calendar the week of the fifteenth?"
By voice, chat, or text
The same. On a call, in the chat, or in a text from your own cell, ask the same question and your assistant reads the same records and answers the same way.
Limits
- Answers come only from what the desk has on record.
Your AI AssistantWhat your assistant can do
What it is
Your assistant runs the desk: - Answers the desk's line and screens callers. - Takes messages like a person and keeps the phone sheet. - Puts callers through to you. - Places outgoing calls and leaves word for you. - Keeps the desk's tasks, calendar, and contacts. - Watches your email when you connect Gmail — brings you what needs you, and drafts replies that you send. With a mailbox of her own connected, she also answers mail sent to her address; every reply still waits for your click. - Runs the whole desk by voice when you call in — and can be called into your own live call by name. Ask for something it can't do yet and it says so plainly, and passes your ask along to the Deskcovered team.
By voice or chat
Both. Calling in works the desk by voice; the "Chat" button (top right of the AI Assistant card) works it in writing.
Limits
- Email never sends without your explicit okay — a click on Send, or your spoken yes on a call after the draft is read back to you. - Removing calendar events and deleting or merging contacts stay clicks on their own screens.
Your AI AssistantYour assistant remembers your preferences
What it is
Tell your assistant a standing preference — "never say where I am", "always ask what the call is about" — and it writes the preference down and applies it on future calls. This works on your own calls to the desk and in typed chat. You can say "remember this" outright, but you don't have to: when you state a preference plainly, a good assistant notes it on its own.
How to do it
- By voice: say it on a call with your assistant. When a note is saved during a call, a small "Memory updated" note pops at the top of the screen if you have the desk open. - By chat: type it in the assistant's chat. Every saved note is shown in the thread, so you always see what was kept. To change or clear one, tell the assistant in chat to forget or replace that note.
Limits
- These are standing instructions for how the assistant works — not tasks or calendar items (those have their own lists).
Your AI AssistantChat with your assistant by text
What it is
Every assistant has a typed chat. Click the "Chat" button at the top right of the AI Assistant card on your desk's Overview, and a drawer slides open. The thread is shared across the desk, and each message shows who wrote it. What you can do there: - Tasks: add, change, mark done — or hand your assistant a call to make. - Calendar: add and change events, including repeating ones. - Contacts: look up, save, and update people in the office's shared contacts. Phone digits are never quoted into the thread. - Phone sheet: read it and correct lines. - Email: search, read, and draft — when the desk's Gmail is connected and you are the one who connected it. - Memory: give standing instructions to keep ("never confirm where I am") — they land in the assistant's Memory notes. - Feedback: ask it to pass a note to the Deskcovered team. It answers questions from the desk's real lists, never from thin air.
By voice or chat
Most of this also works by voice on a call — including standing Memory notes, which save from your calls too. One difference: email searching and drafting are typed chat and screens only.
Limits
- Chat never sends email — drafts wait for your okay: a click on Send, or your spoken yes on a call after it's read back. - Chat doesn't delete calendar events or contacts, and doesn't merge contact cards — the screens keep those.
Your AI AssistantGive your assistant a personality
What it is
An optional flavor for how your assistant talks with you — and only with you. Callers never hear it, and it never changes how the work gets done. The options: "Straightforward" (the default — no angle), "Dry" (underplays everything), "Sarcastic" (quick, a little needling, fond about it), "Pompous" (treats a lunch reservation as a Matter of State), "Sunny" (genuinely glad to hear from you), "Unflappable" (nothing rattles them), "Conspiratorial" (like the two of you are in on something), and "Begrudging" (does it all — and you'll hear about it).
How to do it
1. During setup, the personality grid sits on the "How should … refer to you?" step. Click one — each has its own "Interview" button, a live call to hear it before you keep it. 2. Any time later: Desk Settings (the gear on the AI Assistant card) → "AI Assistant" → "Identity", the "Personality — with … only" dropdown. Pick and save.
By voice or chat
Nothing — the pick is a screen choice.
Limits
- It colors how your assistant speaks with you on your own calls and chats — callers, and the job itself, are untouched.
Your AI AssistantName your assistant and pick its look, voice, and energy
What it is
Desk setup walks you through naming your assistant, giving it a face, and choosing its voice. All of it can change later in Desk Settings.
How to do it
1. On the setup step "Give your AI assistant a name.", type the name. 2. On "Time to meet …": pick "Her" or "Him" (this leans the voice list), then under "Give … a face." describe anything the portrait should get right — a face, or any art style (3D animation, pixel art, papercraft) — and click "Generate", or "Randomize". 3. On "Pick …'s voice.": choose the energy — "Enthusiastic" (bright and upbeat on every call) or "Relaxed" (level and unhurried) — then a voice. Tap "Interview Voice" for a real two-minute call in that voice: ask anything, or take the quick tour. Later, in Desk Settings (the gear at the top right of the AI Assistant card): - Name and portrait: "AI Assistant" → "Identity", under "Name". - Voice: the same tab — "Interview" any voice before keeping it. Voice changes apply to the next call. - Energy: picked during setup only — the screens have no control to change it afterward today.
By voice or chat
Nothing — these are screen choices.
Your AI AssistantBetaTell the Deskcovered team something (feedback)
What it is
Feedback goes straight to the team building Deskcovered — from the app, or through your own assistant.
How to do it
From the app: 1. Click the "🎉 Beta Tester — Provide feedback" badge near the top of the left-side menu. 2. In "How's it going?", pick what "This is about" ("Something broke", "Something's frustrating", "Something sounds weird", "Something's great") and "Where" it happened. 3. Write it under "Tell us" and click "Send Feedback".
By voice or chat
Tell your assistant to pass something to the Deskcovered team — "leave a note for the Deskcovered team: …" — and it files the note in your words and confirms it passed it along. This works on your assistant's line and in chat. Also automatic: when you ask your assistant for something it can't do yet, it says so plainly and flags your request to the team in the same breath — you don't have to do anything.
Limits
- Your assistant won't promise when — or whether — something will be built. It doesn't know. - Notes for people you know, or for your own list, are your own tasks and contacts — not team notes.
Your AI AssistantText your AI assistant
What it is
Yes. Text your desk's own phone number from the cell you set as your transfer number, and your AI assistant texts you back from that same desk number. It is the same shared chat thread you see in the app, so both sides always agree. Texting turns on for a desk once the carrier review clears; the desk's settings show whether it is on.
How to do it
1. Open Desk Settings, The Desk tab, Numbers. The "Texting" row shows the number to text and whether texting is on. 2. Text that number from your transfer number. Anything you can do in chat works by text: tasks, calendar, contacts, the sheet, standing instructions. 3. Script changes become cards that wait in the app for your okay; the text tells you so. An email draft is texted to you whole, and your reply sends it, changes it, or holds it.
Limits
- Only texts from your own transfer number are answered. Anyone else's text is not answered, and you get a notification that it arrived. - Your assistant cannot text other people yet. A message for someone can still go by a phone call. - Texting is billed as assistant time, the same as chat.
Your AI AssistantThe greeting when you call in
What it is
When you call your own desk, your assistant recognizes you and greets you. Save your own words and they are spoken exactly as written, every call. Leave the line blank and your assistant greets you naturally in its own words — a little different each time, on purpose.
How to do it
1. Open Desk Settings (the gear on the AI Assistant card) → "AI Assistant" → "Calls". 2. Find the line "When … calls in" (during setup, the same line appears on the "Here's what … says." step as "When you call in"). 3. Type your greeting and save.
By voice or chat
Nothing — the greeting is typed on the screen.
Limits
- Callers never hear this line. It is only for your own call-ins.
Your AI AssistantThe wake-on-call phrase
What it is
The saved words that bring your assistant onto a call you're already on. Say them at the start of a sentence mid-call and your assistant joins the line.
How to do it
1. Open Desk Settings (the gear on the AI Assistant card) → "AI Assistant" → "Calls". 2. Find "Wake-on-call phrase". 3. Type the exact words you want to say. Leave it blank to keep the default: "Hey [your assistant's first name], you there?"
By voice or chat
The phrase itself is the voice feature — saying it summons your assistant. Changing the phrase is a screen edit.
Limits
- Up to 40 characters. - The words count at the start of a sentence; a passing mention mid-sentence doesn't wake anyone.
Your AI AssistantWhere do I see everything Deskcovered can do?
What it is
The "Knowledge Base" page lists everything Deskcovered does today, in its own words — the same words your AI assistant reads when you ask it a question. It lives under Help in the left-side menu.
How to do it
1. Open the menu and press "Knowledge Base" under Help. 2. Pick an area at the top — Calls, Email, Calendar, Contacts, Your Team, and the rest — or search. 3. Press a card to read the whole entry: what it is, how to do it, and its limits. The button at the bottom opens the page it's about.
Limits
- Entries marked "Beta" are live during the beta; "Not yet" entries say plainly what isn't built. - One card per entry — the list is the product's own record, nothing more.
Your AI AssistantNot yetCan it look things up on the web or do research for me?
What it is
No. Your assistant works from your desk's own records — the phone sheet, tasks, calendar, contacts, connected email, and this help file. It does not browse the web.
Limits
- No web search or website reading. It CAN place a phone call to a business and ask a question for you.
Your AI AssistantNot yetCan it order things or book appointments online?
What it is
Not on websites. Your assistant does not use the web. It can place a PHONE call for you — call a restaurant, an office, a shop — and handle the ask by voice, then put the outcome on your sheet.
Limits
- No website orders, forms, or online bookings.
Your AI AssistantNot yetDoes it connect to other tools (Zapier, Slack, my CRM)?
What it is
No. Deskcovered does not connect to outside tools or services today. Contacts can be brought in from a contacts file or your Google Contacts, one Gmail inbox can be connected, and a desk's calendar can connect to your Google Calendar — those are the only doors in.
Limits
- No Slack, Zapier, CRM, or other connections today.
Your AI AssistantNot yetWill it call or text me when something urgent comes in?
What it is
Today, urgent things show inside Deskcovered: urgent rows stand out on the phone sheet and tasks, and flagged mail waits under "Needs your eye" on the Email page. The desk does not place alert calls or send texts to you.
Limits
- No alert calls or text alerts. Check the app, or call your desk and ask what needs you.
